Hill has earned another big piece in the future of sustaining the F-35, America’s newest fighter jet. The base already provides depot level modifications and maintenance on the Air Force’s entire F-35 fleet. Now, the Ogden Air Logistics Complex’s 309th Software Maintenance Group will be part of an Air Force and Navy team that provides organic software support for the F-35.

Tucson’s 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, commonly referred to as AMARG, recently completed a project to withdraw 23 F/A-18C “Hornet” jet fighters from war-reserve storage and deliver them to the U.S. Marine Corps for return to flying service. The 309th AMARG is part of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex and Air Force Sustainment Center within Air Force Materiel Command.

WSEP at Utah Test and Training Range Weapons system evaluation brings additional aircraft to Utah
Residents around Hill may notice an increase in aircraft arrivals and departures Aug. 7-18 as the 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron conducts the U.S. Air Force air-to-ground exercise known as Combat Hammer and air-to-air exercise known as Combat Archer. During the next couple of weeks, aircraft from Hill and four other units from around the nation will travel to the Utah Test and Training Range to drop munitions in realistic combat scenarios. With support from the 388th Fighter Wing and 75th Air Base Wing, 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron Airmen will collect and analyze data on how these precision weapons perform and their suitability for use in combat.

Tour of Utah Tour of Utah pedals though Hill
For the first time since the race began 13 years ago, Tour of Utah competitors traveled through Hill AFB during the race’s 5th stage. The route, stretching 115 miles from Layton to Bountiful, passed through the base, allowing employees and residents to watch 126 racers compete in what the Tour of Utah calls a top stage race in North America.
