  • Air Force accepting public comments on environmental assessment

    The Air Force will begin accepting public comments Sept. 19 on a draft environmental assessment completed for a proposal to establish a restricted area of airspace (designated R-6401) to operate unmanned aircraft and to set-up facilities on a site on the Air Force’s Utah Test and Training Range to launch, control, recover and maintain the unmanned aircraft.
  • 388th Fighter Wing completes surge operations, prepares for night flying

    The active duty 388th and Reserve 419th Fighter Wings wrapped up a local flying surge last week and are preparing to begin night-flying training next week. From Sept. 9-13, the 34th and 421st Fighter Squadrons flew 240 sorties, roughly doubling what they normally fly in a week.

  • Fusion splice repair passes field tests

    The Air Force Sustainment Center and Air Force Research Laboratory worked with the 309th Aircraft Battle Damage Repair and Expeditionary Depot Maintenance team at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, from Sept. 9-12 to test the feasibility of a new fiber optic fusion splice repair technique for fifth-generation aircraft.
  • Hill spotlights suicide awareness during tactical pause

    In response to the growing number of suicides in the Air Force, bases have been holding a “resiliency tactical pause,” a one day stand down where Airmen can discuss suicide awareness and prevention, as well as talk about mental health issues and break down barriers for getting help when needed.
  • Hill AFB flu vaccinations schedule

    Hill AFB offers influenza, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap), and pneumonia vaccinations to TRICARE beneficiaries, military retirees, and federal service and contract employees through its partnership with the Davis County Health Department. The DCHD will be on base offering insurance-billed, no out-of-pocket cost vaccinations at 21 events around the base, beginning Sept. 13 during Retiree Appreciation Day at The Landing.
