  • 388th Fighter Wing develops leaders with every sortie

    The 388th Fighter Wing launches between 50-100 combat training sorties nearly every day from Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The training program is crucial not only to prepare for deployments, but also to develop leaders who will push the Air Force's F-35 capabilities further in the future.
  • Tinker units collaborate, produce first 3-D printed engine component

    Members of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, an Air Force Sustainment Center wing, have produced the first additively manufactured metal component successfully tested on a U.S. Air Force aircraft engine, a significant milestone for future sustainment of aircraft like the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System and the B-52 Stratofortress.

    With the justification that Kuwait historically belonged to Iraq and the intention of taking control of the country’s rich oil fields, Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein ordered his military forces to invade Kuwait on August 2, 1990. After incurring large debts to its southern neighbors during the eight-year war it waged with its eastern neighbor Iran during the 1980s, the Cold War Soviet ally and nearly landlocked Iraq entered a dispute with its western-friendly Arab neighbors following the Iran-Iraq ceasefire in 1988 that escalated quickly into armed conflict. On August 7, 1990, President George Herbert Walker Bush ordered the organization of Operation Desert Shield in response to Iraq’s hostile actions in Kuwait.

    The 75th Medical Group has established a COVID-19 Joint Operations Center and Occupational Medicine Services to conduct medical screenings for those in need of COVID-19 screening, testing, quarantine, isolation, contact tracing, return to work determinations, and answer questions.  
  • Aerospace Museum set to reopen Aug. 5

    After temporarily closing in March to protect the health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers, the Hill Aerospace Museum will officially reopen to the public on 5 August. Adjusted operating hours will be Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is suggested that “high risk” individuals attend from 10-11 a.m.
