HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – The 2022 Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month campaign is “Step forward. Prevent. Report. Advocate”.

This theme is a call to action for individuals at all levels to use their personal strength to advance positive change in preventing sexual violence.

Join us in taking a “step forward” and highlight the power of acts that can bolster prevention, increase reporting, and promote advocacy for a safer DoD community.

This year the Hill Air Force Base Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office and our community partners offer a series of awareness and outreach events available to all personnel and families. The events include:

  • April 1: Paint the town teal. The SAPR office and volunteer victim advocates from across the base will hang teal ribbons and banners to recognize April as sexual assault awareness and prevention month.
  • April 1-30: The SAPR office will post challenges on Facebook and Instagram each day of April to engage the installation and community in SAAPM. Watch for #30daysofSAAPM.
  • April 1-30: SAPR has purchased the rights to the documentary Nevertheless for the month of April for the Hill AFB community to stream. This documentary follows the intimate stories of 7 individuals who have experience sexual harassment in the workplace, school, and military. The film shines a light on ways we can shift our culture and rebuild. Register to view at https://www.memberplanet.com/events/teamhill/neverthelesshostedbyhillsaproffice.
  • April 12 noon: Step forward against sexual assault. SAPR invites the base community to walk or run around the base track for 24 hours to recognize and honor survivors of sexual assault. We will place more than 1200 flags throughout the event area, representing the number of people sexually assaulted in a 24-hour period in the United States.  Register for this event at: https://www.memberplanet.com/events/teamhill/stepforwardtopreventsexualassault.
  • April 27 from 8-10 a.m.: Hill AFB’s helping agencies will debut their six-part, public service announcement at the Base Theater, created to dispel stigmas while simultaneously encouraging Airmen to seek help. Jeffrey Bucholtz, the founder of We End Violence, will speak about promoting help-seeking behavior and debunk common myths about resiliency.
