HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- This week we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, and Hill Air Force Base is dedicated to the development and implementation of energy resilient projects that compliment Earth Day objectives.
The installation has undergone multiple energy driven projects that most recently included upgrades for lighting, up sizing the solar array, and other cutting-edge clean energy projects.
These ventures are designed to increase our energy resiliency, reduce pollution, drive down emissions, and decrease energy consumption.
While these projects are making a positive impact at Hill AFB, you can help by becoming more energy aware at work and at home.
Small efforts such as turning off lights, shutting down computer screens when you leave your work area, turning off machinery that continues to consume power when you walk away, and walking or bicycling instead using gas powered vehicles for travel when it’s possible.
Other tips include unplugging coffee pots and other kitchen appliances such as personal refrigerators when not in use. These suggestions take little time, but can make a big impact when everyone joins in.
Practicing these and other energy saving opportunities at home is a good way to become more energy aware. We can’t change the past, but we are changing our future.
Please join us! Together we can make a difference in protecting our natural resources and improving our energy security.
