HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and Hill AFB continues to observe the month in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions.
The theme of SAAPM is "Protecting our People Protects our Mission" and this SAPR Spotlight falls on Capt. Ana Clark, a logistics management specialist in the 414th Supply Chain Management Squadron and the Hill AFB Alternate Sexual Assault Response Coordinator.
Clark initially completed the 40-hour training course to become a volunteer victim advocate through the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program in 2016 at Los Angeles AFB, California.
Since arriving at Hill AFB, she received her certification as a SARC and has been actively contributing to the program. She not only enables 24/7 victim response by serving as an on-call advocate and manning the SAPR hotline, but she also provides unit training and leadership briefings on and off base for DoD personnel.
Her favorite part of the program is the education and prevention piece. “I’d really like us to work ourselves out of a job,” Clark said.
When she’s not touting SAPR values to Airmen, she enjoys podcasts and audio books while reluctantly pursuing her goal to be a happy runner.
She also likes puzzles and playing video games with her three children. Clark said she appreciates learning new words and keeps the dictionary app as a favorite. She is a valued member of the SAPR program and champions prevention and response to everyone she meets.
The SAPR office serves as the single point of contact for integrating and coordinating sexual assault victim and survivor care 24/7, 365 days a year with walk-in access during duty hours and the SAPR Hotline at 801-777-1985.
During this time of social distancing, those wishing to speak in person with a SARC or victim advocate should first call the hotline.
Preventing sexual assault is not the sole responsibility of the SAPR office or any individual.
Change requires a continuous pledge from each and every member of the Air Force, both military and civilian.
