6/7/2012 - HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The base's third annual "See Me, Save Me" motorcycle safety campaign is set to begin with a motorcycle ride on Wednesday, June 13. The campaign aims to encourage motor vehicle operators to be on the lookout for motorcycles on the road.

"Motorists aren't used to seeing motorcycles on the road during the winter months, but with warmer weather more and more motorcyclists are taking to the roads and people need to start looking specifically for motorcycles when driving," said Allan Woods from Hill's safety office.

WHO:  All military and civilian motorcycle riders from on- and off-base.

WHAT:  A motorcycle ride through Davis and Weber Counties to promote motorcycle awareness and safety on roads and highways to help save lives.

WHERE:  The ride starts from the Hill Air Force Base Motorcycle Safety Range. Riders without access to the base stage at the Hill Aerospace Museum.

WHEN:  Motorcyclists with access to the base will stage at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Off-base riders stage no later than 10:45 a.m. The ride begins at 11 a.m.

The police escorted ride will lead motorcyclists through several local communities including Roy, West Haven, Ogden, South Ogden, Uintah, South Weber, Layton, Clearfield and Sunset.

Previous rides have drawn more than 300 riders from northern Utah.

"We're hoping to garner as much on- and off-base participation as possible in this year's ride," Woods said. "Our goal is to show vehicle operators just how many motorcyclists are sharing the road with them.

"The more riders that participate, the bigger impact we'll have on the community to help raise awareness about motorcycles. We're trying to save lives with this campaign, so please join us," Woods said.

Hill AFB motorcyclists will stage for the ride at 10:30 a.m. at the base's Motorcycle Safety Range located behind the South Gate Visitor's Center. Once the ride begins, riders will meet up with off-base riders from the local community at the Hill Aerospace Museum located at 5600 South in Roy just outside the base's Roy Gate.
Riders who don't have access to the base and who want to participate in the ride will need to be stage at the museum parking lot no later than 10:45 a.m.

For information about the ride, please call (801) 777-7469. In the event the ride is postponed or canceled due to inclement weather or for any other reason, information will be recorded at this number.
