All active-duty, Guard and Reserve members stationed at Hill Air Force Base, along with their families, are invited to attend the annual Military Salute Picnic on Friday, Aug. 8.

The free event is hosted by the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee and will take place at Centennial Park, located just inside the South Gate, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Roosters Brewing Co. will provide food from 4 to 7 p.m. A DJ will play music throughout the evening.

Activities include bounce houses, wet and dry inflatables, a mechanical bull, splash pad and other options for children. Attendees can also visit military equipment displays and watch a demonstration by the 75th Security Forces Squadron's working dogs.

Additional activities include face painting, a pony carousel, character meet-and-greets and a petting zoo.

“This event is our way of delivering a big thank you in a simple but meaningful way,” said Barbara Riddle, picnic co-chair. “It’s become a cherished tradition, a chance for airmen and families to feel valued, and appreciated, and to simply enjoy a fun, relaxing day together.”

“We started with a modest crowd and a heartfelt mission,” said Bob Ekstrom, co-chair. “Now, with thousands attending each year, we’re proud to give back to those who give so much.”

The event is sponsored by the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee, a partnership between the Davis and Ogden/Weber Chambers of Commerce.

The picnic is part of an ongoing initiative to support Hill AFB and its personnel.

The appearance of commercial sponsors does not constitute federal endorsement.
