HILL AIR FORCE BASE – With tax season quickly approaching, 75th Comptroller Squadron officials remind Hill military members and civilian employees to verify their pay entitlements to avoid delays in tax filing and receiving refunds.
Reviews and correction requests should be made by Dec. 13.
“The next few weeks are critical for pay adjustments, as all corrections must be processed by the end of the calendar year to ensure accurate W2s are generated and tax errors are avoided,” said 2nd Lt. Michaela Bender, Financial Operations Flight commander.
A leave and earning statement review to ensure all pay and entitlements are accounted for and correctly started or stopped will save time and future frustration.
"Common examples to look at include Family Separation Allowance and Combat Zone Tax Exclusion,” she said. “If you are currently receiving CZTE and have returned from deployment, visit the Finance Office or send a comptroller services portal case for action.”
Bender said there are simple solutions if errors are detected that will save time now.
“Members should use MyPay to review their LES and update deductions as needed,” she said. “If you believe your W2 was generated incorrectly, contact the 75th CPTS as soon as possible to correct it, as generating a W2-C with Defense Finance and Accounting Services can be time-consuming.”
The 75th CPTS has no control over tuition assistance funding for school contributions or the Thrift Savings program. These are automatically included in the W2 information for filing purposes.
