HILL AIR FORCE BASE – Members of the 75th Air Base Wing Safety staff present Safety Fest 2024 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 23 at The Landing and surrounding parking lots.
This large-scale, diverse, civilian-release-authorized event is designed to have something for everyone in highlighting safety while on-duty, off-duty and during recreational activities.
“As we discussed the scope of this event, it became clear that focusing only on our industrial workforce, our military workforce, or our base resident population would be a mistake,” said Adam Sandbek, Lead Safety Manager with Hill’s 75th Air Base Wing Safety office. “Our staff felt this is an opportunity to engage the base community at all levels.”
There will be live seminars, demonstrations and opportunities to learn about new safety related technology from more than 40 vendors, giving Team Hill and their family members the defenses to be safe.
“Safety is not the absence of mishaps, it is the presence of defenses,” Sandbek said. “Our staff firmly believes that activities like the Safety Fest are one form of defense for our blended workforce.”

Sandbek said he is grateful for the vendor support and all the people offering so much toward a successful event and is personally excited to see 3Ms mobile classroom and watch their fall protection demonstration.
Children can get a free hard hat which will also serve as a place to stick a sticker they will receive after stopping by many of the exhibitor booths. Then, showing their covered hard hat at the 75th ABW safety booth, they can be entered into a drawing.
The Utah Department of Public Safety is providing a bicycle skills course for younger children that simulates some situations they may encounter on the road.
McGruff will be there to greet and interact with children. There will be a fire engine on site along with numerous pieces of heavy machinery which are always interesting to youngsters.
Sandbek said he hopes people have a good time at the Safety Fest and can be inspired about safe behaviors leading to make at least one change for safety in their everyday life.
“Our overall goal is mishap prevention, but I want Team Hill to see that Safety isn’t all inspections and mishap reports,” Sandbek said. “I hope the Safety Fest offers people some new information in the form of training or learning about a new product or service that might help them while on-duty, off-duty and during recreational activities.”
