HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Employee Assistance Program is a free benefit for Air and Space Force civilian employees that offers a wide range of services to support and meet the various needs of employees and their families’ lives.

The program, also known as EAP, is available for employees and their households to include spouses, children, parents and domestic partners.

“We offer a whole suite of training,” said Robert Denney, EAP field consultant for Hanscom AFB personnel. “I think people don't realize the enormity of services and training we provide -- and not having to pay for it is a huge benefit.”

EAP services include lifestyle coaching, legal assistance, financial-wellness coaching, work-life services, an extensive discount center, online trainings, management support and much more.

EAP is also a valuable resource for managers and supervisors. It offers virtual and in-person consultations to address such topics as team building and crisis response, along with tips for coaching employees to workplace performance success.

Denney emphasized the importance of proactive mental health care, rather than waiting until a crisis point to seek help.

“A lot of our trainings are built around stress management, because there's heightened stress levels that go along with supporting the mission and the associated demands,” he said.

Managers can also request health and wellness trainings for their employee population as well as their leadership teams. Further, the manager can request EAP benefit orientations for their employees either in-person or virtually.

Although the target audience is Department of the Air Force civilians, classes are open to any individuals who want to attend, including family members.

Employees can also find more information, request a training, or access 24/7 employee assistance program services by calling 866-580-9078 or through the EAP website.
