HILL AIR FORCE BASE – The cross country running season is about to get underway at Hill AFB, for runners of all levels who are trying to excel, maintain or need a steppingstone to jumpstart their physical fitness program.

Events begin at 1 p.m. March 14 with a team captains meeting at the Warrior Fitness Center. All squadron team captains should attend to get information on the season format, awards and new improvements to make the season better.

“Pre-season registration happens that day, followed by the Get the Rust Out run on the Duckpond course at 4:30 p.m.,” said Randy Thomas, Hill AFB Running Club volunteer director. “The run starts by the green outdoor fitness equipment door at the northeast corner of the blue track,”

The spring fun run season, open to any skill level including runner, walker, stroller etc., begins at 4:30 p.m. March 28 at the Duckpond course.

There is a different 5k-ish course each week with walkers usually completing 1.5 to 2 miles.

“People can join their squadron’s team or participate as an individual for awards,” Thomas said. “The season is eight weeks long on Thursdays, ending on May 16 with a challenging off-road course.”

Each run begins at 4:30 p.m.
