HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Recent upgrades at Hill’s Airman Recreation Center are complete.

While the ARC, located across from the first term Airman’s Center and base dormitories has been open for nearly a year, work continued to create a comfortable and convenient place where Airmen can hang out and be with their peers, relax, watch movies, play games and music and have opportunities for professional development.

Senior Airman Joseph Vasquez, president of Hill’s First Four organization, said the ARC is primarily for the junior enlisted tier, but it’s open to all.

“Most Airmen are stuck sitting in their dorms, so we wanted to build a place for them to get out, meet people, and grow,” he said.

Since the soft opening, some of the renovations accomplished in the past year include: continuing Airmen’s artwork on the walls throughout the building, equipping the computer lab with 24/7 access to the Air Force email network and the AF Portal, obtaining textbooks and college-level materials for Airmen to work toward their academic goals, opening The Gallery band room with a stage, lights, music equipment and a state-of-the-art sound system, and improving the theatre’s multimedia capabilities.

Vasquez said none of this could have been done without assistance from multiple organizations and outstanding Airmen selflessly volunteering their time.

“The ARC is unlike anything I’ve ever seen,” he said. “People dedicate hours to working on a project without expecting anything in return. Everyone is working toward a single goal of making this base the best it can be and that’s what makes the ARC special.”

Col. Jenise Carroll, 75th ABW commander said she’s happy for Hill’s Airmen to have a first-class facility, available 24-hours a day.

“Our Airmen deserve a first-class center where they can recharge from the rigors of Air Force life so they can stand ready to perform in defense of our nation and that’s exactly what we have here,” she said “I’m extremely pleased with what this facility represents and I thank everyone who has donated time, energy and resources.”

Airman Recreation Center is open to all with 24/7 access.
