HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – As military members with dependents receive a permanent change of station notification, an initial action that should be accomplished quickly is a family member travel screening.
Completing the automated FMTS process helps identify people who require assistance through the exceptional family member program.
This is a key element necessary to generate orders for the PCS move.
When information goes into the system, an FMTS screener will trigger necessary processes for those going to an oversea assignment, regardless of EFMP considerations, and those who have special needs regardless of their PCS destination.
Capt. William Werner, 75th Force Support Squadron, said any delay in action by the service member could result in delayed processing, and ultimately delayed orders.
“My advice for people is to promptly complete the FMTS as soon as they get the notification,” he said. “This helps us take care of our Air Force personnel and their family members before the PCS move.
