HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Safety officials are calling on motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution near 6th Street and Charleston Loop.

A number of “near-miss accidents" have been reported in the area involving vehicles and children walking to and from Hill Field Elementary School, especially between 8-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-4 p.m.

Parents are asked to remind their students to cross the road in approved crosswalks and look towards oncoming traffic when crossing the road. Wearing reflective material is also encouraged.

Motorists hould be prepared to stop, recognizing that children may not be watching for vehicles.

The 75th Air Base Wing Safety Office said it is working on additional ways to improve safety in the area.

A safety flash is distributed as part of the installation's mishap prevention program. For more information or to report a base safety issue, please contact the 75th ABW Safety Office at 801-777-SAFE.
