HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign at Hill Air Force Base has been extended to May 7.

This campaign aids four different charities: Air Force Aid Society, the LeMay Foundation, Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, and Air Force Enlisted Village.

“The Air Force Assistance Fund campaign has been supporting and providing assistance to our fellow Airmen, Guardians, families and retirees for over 47 years and this year is no different,” said Master Sgt. Demetrius Taula, a member of this year’s AFAF committee. “This is the only campaign that is supported by you, our fellow Airmen and Guardians, and I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to give back while also preserving a proud heritage and source of support for future generations of Airmen.”

Contributions benefit all Airmen and Guardians serving on active duty, as well as eligible Air National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, spouses, immediate family members and surviving family members of deceased retirees.

Below are four testimonials from Airmen and Guardians who have received AFAF assistance in the past. Please contact your unit project officer or text “AFAF” to 50155 to make a donation.

Air Force aid made it possible for my husband to go back home with his family during a hard time and it really meant a lot to us… to actually see his dad for the last time.

The Air Force aid society recently helped me be able to go home to say goodbye to my grandmother. Being able to go see my grandmother and be in the hospital and talk to her and tell her goodbye and being able to have that closure meant a lot. Cause the last time I had seen her was for her 70th surprise party which was just earlier that year and we kept talking about the next time I go I would take her out to dinner just me and her. I was very close to her… very, very close to her.

Senior Airman Joshua Shaver
Air Force Enlisted Village
My accident was involving an F-15. I’m a crew chief and I was crushed between the forward landing gear doors which is about 3,000 pounds per square inch. So, I spent about 45 days in a brace and the recovery beyond that was a couple months. My mom came to live at the Air Force enlisted village from a recommendation from an NCO that I used to work with. He understood some of the struggles that were going on with her and with myself and he had asked if I ever heard of the Air Force Enlisted Village and what they offer. He said they most likely would be able to accept her and through my research I discovered that they do accept mothers of active duty enlisted and I immediately jumped on that opportunity. I am extremely grateful to the Air Force Enlisted Village for accepting my mother. When I needed her, she was there and when she needed the Air Force Enlisted Village, they were there.

Retired Col. Robert Certain
Air Force Village
Back in the day, when Curtis LeMay was Chief of Staff of the Air Force, he and his wife believed it was important to have a place for the widows of Air Force officers. So Air Force Village was started back then. The primary purpose was to make sure that if a surviving spouse ran out of money that they would always be able to stay. So the fund that created that endowment for surviving spouses has been very important. As we thought about moving into a retirement community, coming to the Air Force Village made sense to us because, should I predecease my wife, she doesn’t ever have to worry about what happens next.”
