HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- On July 4, the United States Air Force's F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team completed their first air show since being assigned to the 388th Fighter Wing.

The team, led by Capt. Kristin "BEO" Wolfe, performed at the Thunder over Cedar Creek Lake airshow at Cedar Creek Lake, Texas.

The temperatures were in the 90s, which Wolfe said was perfect for the kinds of maneuvers the F-35 performs.

“The final maneuver we perform is the Tactical Pitch, which is always a crowd-pleaser as we show the high angle-of-attack maneuvering of the jet,” she said. “Ultimately, the Texas humidity and environmentals over the lake gave us some awesome vape for multiple maneuvers. We were excited to show the jet off, represent the combat-ready Airmen at the 388th Fighter Wing, and celebrate the 4th of July weekend in Texas.”

Air show and Air Force officials asked guests to practice social distancing to protect the health of everyone attending. F-35 Demo Team spokesperson Capt. Kip Sumner emphasized that the safety of team members and Airmen is a top priority.

“We encouraged everyone coming to see at us the show to wear face-masks, practice social distancing, and follow all other CDC guidance,” Sumner said. “This helped to ensure the safety of other airshow attendees and our Airmen.”
