Rescue Squadrons at Hill AFB during the 1970s

The primary mission of Detachment 4, 40th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, was to support operations at the Hill Air Force Range (now the Utah Test and Training Range, or UTTR). The detachment’s rescue and recovery crews were often also called on for support by local government entities across the Intermountain Area for help with the rescue of members of the civilian populace.
