Cadet Staff Sgt. Zack Mickelsen, a student at the Utah Military Academy in Riverdale, Utah, participates in CyberPatriot IX, Jan. 5. The competition, in its ninth year, was developed by the Air Force Association after it recognized the need for a generation of cyber warriors to combat offensive cyber activities aimed at individuals and America. Besides cyber, the program’s aim is to steer students toward careers in other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.
