The Airmen, military working dog handlers, were training with the Forest Service in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest when an emergency medical call was received. To aid an injured person, they carried packs, a litter and other supplies more than two miles at elevations of 7,500 feet. Once at the scene, they coordinated a safe landing for an emergency helicopter and then carried the victim to the helicopter via an extremely narrow trail with steep drop-offs.
