The 775th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight hosted a memorial workout to honor fallen Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine EOD technicians, Nov. 4, 2016.

The EOD 131 Memorial Workout is named for the 131 EOD technicians who have made the ultimate sacrifice performing that duty since 9/11. EOD technicians disarm, render safe, and dispose of bombs to protect the lives and property of others.

"This is one of several events designed to memorialize fallen EOD technicians," said event organizer Tech. Sgt. Timothy Lincoln, an EOD technician assigned to the 775th. "We want to make sure those we have lost are never forgotten."

The workout was completed by two-person teams wearing 20-pound vests and consisted of four couplets, one couplet for each branch of service. A couplet is comprised of two different 66-rep exercises, for a total of 132 reps, one for each fallen EOD technician. (The number was upped from 131 to 132 after another EOD technician was recently killed fighting in Mosul, Iraq.)

Couplet exercises included 135-pound front squats, 72-pound Kettlebell swings, 135-pound hang cleans, 54-pound single-arm presses, pullups, box jumps, pushups and 135-pound barbell rows.

After each couplet, team members did 16 over-partner burpees.

The workout was capped with a 400-meter run.

The entire 775th EOD Flight participated in the event along with Team Hill members from across the base.

"It was an opportunity to get in a great workout," said Lincoln. “Participants experienced a grueling challenge along with a great sense of camaraderie and satisfaction."
