Superheroes, goblins, fairies and robots, among other characters, took over The Landing on Oct. 25 for the annual Haunting the Hill event. Sunshine and warm fall temperatures drew large crowds and families enjoyed numerous activities that included an abundance of candy and prizes. Inside the club, children enjoyed activities such as bowling, coloring, a magician, spooky story-telling, bingo and pizza. Outside, families lined up to see a fire truck and go trunk-or-treating.

Volunteers lined up their cars in a long row, and set up their trunk areas to pass out treats to excited children in a large variety of costumes. The trunk-or-treat volunteers went all out with their costumes and treat areas. Some had themes, and others even included games for the kids to play as they passed through. Buck and Shari Walker showed up for their second year as volunteers dressed as minions from Disney's "Despicable Me."
"(We love) seeing all of the adorable costumes," said Shari who serves in the 388th Maintenance Group. A few trunks down, the Harris family were dressed as characters from Mario Brothers, as they passed out candy to visitors.

Some of those trick-or-treaters included the Armstrong family, dressed as the main characters from "Monsters, Inc." Gary Armstrong serves in the 388th MXG and brought his three children, along with his wife, to their third year at the Haunting the Hill.
This is a safe and fun way for families to enjoy the Halloween season. The abundance of activities, treats, and creative costumes made for a wonderful night of delight for children and adult participants. Thanks to the numerous volunteers, this event provided an evening of free fun for many military families and kicked off the Halloween festivities.
