Getting a flu vaccination is the single most important way to protect people from getting the flu.

And to assist with getting that protection, the Davis County Health Department is offering just three more on-base flu vaccination clinics this year to non-Tricare eligible civilian and contractor personnel. Civilian employees who have not yet received the vaccination are urged to attend one of these last-chance clinics.
  • Nov. 13, 9 a.m. to noon, Bldg. 1234, Main Conference Room
  • Nov. 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Warrior Fitness Center - Fall Expo
  • Nov. 20, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Bldg. 1515, Executive Conference Room
Because of budget constraints this year, Air Force Materiel Command could no longer fund Influenza vaccinations for our non-Tricare covered civilians; however, thanks to a partnership with the Davis County Health Department, flu vaccines have been made available on base this year at no additional cost or co-pay.

The health department has been offering insurance billed flu vaccinations to Hill's non-Tricare beneficiary civilian and contractor employees at well attended flu clinics across the base since the beginning of October.

One thing unique to flu vaccination efforts this year is the selection of different forms of the vaccine available to employees. Not available on-base until this year are the following forms of the flu vaccine.
  • Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine: Protects against 4 different strains of the flu virus
  • Flu Mist: Available to healthy persons under the age of 50
  • Intradermal Flu Vaccine: A flu shot that uses a smaller needle injected into the skin instead of the muscle. Customers report less pain than the traditional intramuscular vaccination method, so "the shot hurts" is no longer a good excuse.
  • High Dose Flu Vaccine: Recommended and available to adults age 65 years or older
Employees who want to take advantage of these remaining on-base clinics must bring their health insurance card or pay the nominal fee of $25 dollars for non-insurance billed vaccine.

Employees who happen to miss any of the remaining flu clinics can still get vaccinated off base at the Davis County Health Department in nearby Clearfield on 22 S. State St., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Tricare will continue to provide flu vaccines for all active duty members, military retirees and military family members. Vaccinations are available at the 75th Medical Group Immunizations Clinic in Bldg. 570, or through a Tricare-covered pharmacy.
