Airman killed in snowmobile accident identified Published Dec. 10, 2013 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Base officials announced today the identity of the Hill Air Force Base Airman who died in a recent snowmobile accident. Airman 1st Class Christopher Martinez died at the scene of a snowmobiling accident in the Monte Cristo Mountain Range on Sunday, Dec. 8. "The death of Airman 1st Class Christopher Martinez is a tragic loss to our Air Force family and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time," said Lt. Col. Darin Humiston, 729th Air Control Squadron commander. "He was a valuable member of Team Hill and will be greatly missed by all." Martinez was a Ground Radar Journeyman assigned to the 729th ACS. He joined the Air Force March 1, 2011, and arrived at Hill Air Force Base in November of the same year. While assigned to the 729th ACS, he deployed to Southwest Asia from January to July 2013. His hometown was El Paso, Texas. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
