Hill command chief to retire after 27 years of service

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah --  The 75th Air Base Wing's command chief master sergeant will retire Nov. 1 after 27 years of military service.

In remarks during her retirement ceremony July 14 at the Hill Aerospace Museum, Chief Master Sgt. Rhonda K. Miller spoke of family to an audience of active duty, retired and civilian Airmen.

"It takes a family to raise an Airman," she said. "Each and every one of you, every day, is part of an Airman's family."

Since her arrival here in May 2014, Chief Miller has focused on mission effectiveness, combat readiness, professional development, training, utilization, health, morale and welfare of all assigned personnel as well as quality of life issues for the 22,000 total force warriors and family members that comprise Team Hill.

"Chief Miller takes care of Airmen," said 75th Air Base Wing Commander Col. Ronald Jolly, who presided over the ceremony. "She does it well, like no other."

Among her many accomplishments here, she initiated a developmental special-duty career fair for the base's senior noncommissioned officer corps, and provided hundreds of Airmen with a relaxing off-duty destination by leading the effort to revamp the Airmen Recreation Center.

Besides leading the base's enlisted corps, Col. Jolly also noted that she had a big impact nurturing Team Hill's young officers. "She has worked tirelessly with and for our Airmen," he said.

After basic military training in 1988, Chief Miller attended technical training at the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California, and Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. Her career background included various duties in Air Force and joint intelligence units as a linguist, analyst, cryptanalyst, instructor, flight chief, mission evaluator and superintendent. She served as command chief master sergeant at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, before assuming the same position here.

In concluding her remarks, Chief Miller said, "It's been a great ride!"
