The U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 419th Fighter Wing and the Utah Air National Guard’s 151st Wing have finalized the flight path for their joint Freedom250 Fourth of July flyover, revealing a massive flight route designed to reach communities across northern, central, and eastern Utah to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary.

Between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on July 4, Utahns across the region can expect to look up and see a powerful display of American airpower. The expansive route will stretch as far north as Lewiston, as far south as Torrey, as far west as Tooele, and reaching as far east as Vernal.

The flyover aligns with the national landmark anniversary marking 250 years of American independence. Operationally, the mission serves as a practical demonstration of the rapid response, global reach, and national defense capabilities that protect our country's founding principles.

Executing a mission of this scale requires a comprehensive Total Force effort. The flyover is made possible through the vital, behind-the-scenes support of Team Hill, including active-duty personnel from the 388th Fighter Wing and the 75th Air Base Wing. Their dedicated support in aircraft maintenance, airfield operations, and logistical backing ensures the F-35A fleet is ready to launch safely on the Fourth of July.

Due to the historic nature of the Freedom250 anniversary, an unprecedented number of Utah communities submitted formal requests for a flyover. The flight path was specifically designed to accommodate approved requests granted by the Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs. Because the joint formation will be covering hundreds of miles of diverse terrain—from the Tooele valley across the Wasatch Front and out to the Uintah Basin—planners developed a continuous, route-based flight plan. This strategy prioritizes reaching all requested locations safely and efficiently within the three-hour morning window, rather than attempting to meet precise, individual time-on-target requests for local events.

Please note that all times listed for the flyover are strictly approximations.

As with all military flight operations, the scheduled flight path and timing window are highly dynamic and subject to change without notice. Real-time adjustments to the route or arrival times may occur due to local weather conditions, fuel constraints, maintenance requirements, or air traffic coordination. Because protecting the aircrews and the communities below remains the highest priority, these flight plans will be continuously evaluated and modified to ensure the absolute safety of the pilots, crew, and aircraft.

The flyover is conducted as part of routine military training at no additional cost to the taxpayer. It provides pilots, boom operators, and ground crews with highly valuable experience in navigation, precision timing, fuel management, and joint formation flying.
