The Hill Air Force Base Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office launched a 24/7 text hotline, 801-920-9179, to provide a new, confidential avenue for individuals seeking support.

This new service launched April 1 and is designed to reduce barriers to access and give community members a choice that may feel more comfortable texting than making a phone call.

According to the SAPR office, the goal is to make the first step of reaching out as safe and accessible as possible, empowering individuals to connect on their own terms. The text line complements the existing 24/7 phone hotline, 801-777-1985, and is staffed around the clock by trained SAPR personnel.

The foundational principle of the SAPR office is to empower clients by ensuring they oversee their own decisions and recovery. While the text line is not anonymous, individuals control what information they share. The SAPR team’s role is to present options that align with a client's expressed wishes and support them in the path they choose.

To promote the new service, the SAPR team recently handed out “Burst of Support” cards with the text line number as personnel entered the base’s gates.

The text hotline is one of several ways to connect with the Hill AFB SAPR office. Support options also include:

  • 24/7 phone and in-person response: For immediate, confidential assistance.
  • Walk-in support: Available during regular duty hours with no appointment necessary.
  • Anonymous local Safe HelpRoom: A moderated, anonymous, peer-support chatroom held every Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. Mountain Time. Individuals can get the link sent directly to their phone by texting “HelpRoom” to 94000.
  • National DoD Safe Helpline: A national resource (877-995-5247) that provides confidential support and can connect service members to the Hill AFB SAPR office.

The SAPR office also ensures that individuals find the correct support, even if it's outside their purview. If a person reaches out and SAPR is not the best agency to help, the team is committed to facilitating a “warm handoff,” connecting the individual seamlessly to the right resources.
