Hill Aerospace Museum will host its Annual Open Aircraft Day on Saturday, Sept. 20, offering visitors a rare chance to step inside and explore some of the most iconic aircraft in military aviation history.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests of all ages can take a peek inside the cockpits, cargo bays, and crew compartments of select historic aircraft that are normally closed to the public. Knowledgeable museum staff and volunteers will be on hand to share stories, answer questions, and provide insight into the unique history of each military aircraft. The public will also have a unique opportunity to interact with Airmen and learn about the noteworthy military missions they support out of Utah.

“This event brings history to life in a way that few experiences can,” said Aaron Clark, Director of the Hill Aerospace Museum. “Visitors don’t just see these historic aircraft – they can experience what it’s like to be inside the same spaces where Airmen once served, trained, and supported critical military missions across the world – for this one day only.”

Highlights of Open Aircraft Day include:

  • Hill mission displays
  • Food trucks
  • Live music
  • Meet and learn from Airmen (active duty and veterans)

FREE admission and parking for all visitors. Food trucks will be available on site, and the museum’s gift shop will be open with exclusive event merchandise.

Open Aircraft Day is part of the Hill Aerospace Museum’s mission to educate, inspire, and honor the legacy of U.S. Air Force aviation. The museum houses more than 70 aircraft and thousands of artifacts, attracting over 350,000 visitors each year.
