HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Airmen from across the 388th Fighter Wing gathered today for a memorial service to honor the life of Airman 1st Class Angel Harris.
An F-35 avionics apprentice in the 34th Fighter Generation Squadron, Harris was killed in an accident at Causey Reservoir July 19.
“His death was felt deeply by many in this room. It is during times like these that we all need each other,” said Maj. Adam Marthaler, 34th FGS commander. “His service to the country won’t be forgotten and he will not be forgotten.”
Harris was 23 years old and joined the Air Force 8 months ago after pursuing a degree in computer programming. He was from Newark, Del. He was remembered fondly by his fellow Airmen for his ability to form true relationships, his love for computers, technology, video games, and his care for others.
“His laugh was more than a sound, it was the kind of laugh the said joy was meant to be shared,” said Airman 1st Class Shane Thomas, also in avionics in the 34th FGS, who came up through technical training with Harris. “(His actions) showed that he truly cared for others and wanted to put them before himself.”
