HILL AFB, Utah -- We live in a consequential time for our nation, and the world. When we became Airmen—uniformed or civilian—we all swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. It is our duty to be ready when our Nation calls. Readiness requires focus, and we focus better when we feel we belong at work, at home, and in our communities. Project One unites our efforts to increase readiness through belonging and community.
Since its launch in March 2023, Project One has created opportunities for Airmen and families to enjoy time together and share in experiences unique to Utah and our community; seen Utah pass laws to improve support to military families, including access to childcare subsidies and in-state college tuition; partnered with local school districts to improve the experiences of military-affiliated children; and strengthened ties with local, state, and national organizations serving the military community.
Even with these many successes, we are not slowing down. Today, we are pivoting our focus by collapsing the original five lines of effort into three and concentrating on making changes we all can feel in these refined lines of effort: Airmen and Families, Educational Institutions, and Civic and Community Organizations.
Our Airmen and Families efforts will continue developing and fostering connection amongst all Team Hill Airmen and their families. We will provide opportunities to accelerate team building in our work centers, enhance our on-base engagements, and promote communities of shared interests on and off base. Chief Master Sgt. Jackson, 75th Air Base Wing command chief, is the lead for this initiative.
Col. Andy Miller, 75th Mission Support Group commander, leads our efforts for Educational Institutions. In this line of effort, we are strengthening our partnership with local primary and secondary schools and colleges. We will continue our outstanding relationship with Davis School District’s Military Support Team, expand our relationships with Weber and Ogden School Districts, and deepen our connection with other local schools, like Hill Field Elementary and Utah Military Academy. We will also advance our relationships with local colleges, like Weber State, continue partnerships with ROTC programs across the state, and continue connecting Team Hill to communities with shared interests.
Our third effort concentrates on Civic and Community Organizations. The communities surrounding Hill AFB are enthusiastic and eager to support the installation. Morgan Sutherland, community engagement coordinator in the 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs office, is building initiatives to collaborate with government and community leaders and organizations to improve Airmen’s experiences, increase their sense of inclusion and belonging, strengthen bonds, and facilitate partnership and mutual support.
Through these three lines of effort, Project One creates an environment where every Airmen and family member feels valued, connected, and ready. But Project One cannot succeed without you. Project One needs your ideas, attendance, engagement, and leadership.
