Hill AFB hosts Civil Engineering Summit Published March 4, 2008 By Capt. Ryan LeBlanc 388th Fighter Wing Civil Engineer HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Ut -- Once again, Team Hill was pleased to host the annual Air Force Civil Engineering Planning and Programming Summit, which was held from Feb. 26-28, 2008. For three days, senior engineers from the Air Staff and every Major Command exchanged information and built strategies to advocate for the Air Force's installation support accounts. The goal of the conference is to provide the senior civil engineer programming community a real-time forum to discuss programming planning and policy, budget submissions, budget defense strategy, execution successes and lessons learned. The summit also ensures all senior MAJCOM engineer planners have face-to-face interaction with their Air Staff CE senior leadership and program managers to discuss future requirements for military construction, housing, environmental, readiness, and base operating support. "The Summit was especially important this year because of the need to find a way to free up resources for aircraft recapitalization, while ensuring resources remain to carry out our combat support mission," said Lt. Col. Dave Demartino, Installation Support Panel Chair. The attendees gain much from this three day conference, but Team Hill draws its own benefits from having the top engineers in town. One such advantage of Hill AFB's hosting the event is that it gives a chance for leadership to discuss their long range facilities needs on-site with the senior engineers of their respective commands. Hill has hosted the Planning and Programming Summit for decades. "We could hold our meetings anywhere, but we come to Hill because of the outstanding support we receive each year," said Maj. Gen. Del Eulberg, the Air Force Civil Engineer. "We use the summit to get important work done, and there is no place else we'd rather be."
