Military Police from the US Army along with local civilian police trained with members from the 75th Security Forces Squadron Hill Air Force Base unit the weekend of April 11.

The training is run in part by Master Sgt. Kenneth Potts, 75 SFS NCOIC of training. The Army military police and local police are up to speed with law enforcement, but could use a hand when learning the Air Force style of the job.

"The MPs and other cops know the basics of law enforcement," said Sergeant Potts. "We teach them the Air Force ways of the line of work. The end plan is to eventually work together with them."

The help outside the Air Force can come in hand during needy times for the 75 SFS.

"(Training other branches to work with us) helps out greatly when 30 - 50 percent of our task force is deployed," said Sergeant Potts. "We are low on manning a good part of the time. It's also a really good deal if they help us during non-critical times that require a lot of manning like the air shows. Furthermore, it's beneficial when the force protection conditions are changing and manning can alter.

"It's not a new concept by any means," Sergeant Potts said. "It rolls into a winning situation for everyone where the base benefits from the assistance and some civilian experience in the mix, and the help benefits from some Air Force experience."
