Sitting in her cubicle eating a small well portioned meal was Kathleen Tesori, an Inventory Management Specialist for the 526 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles group, and is also a part time cover model for various magazines such as Max Muscle, Muscle and Fitness Hers and Omni Home Gym commercials.

Mrs. Tesori began working for Hill Air Force Base in 2005 at the civilian personnel office through the Student Educational Employment Program and the Palace Acquire program. During this time she was completing her degree at Weber State University with high honors and beginning her career in civil service.

Subsequently, she also burst on to the model and fitness scene in the same year almost by sheer accident. In July 2005, Hawaiian Tropic did a preliminary model search in Salt Lake City. Reluctant to enter, she was persuaded by some of her friends to at least give it a try.

"I wasn't going to do it," said Mrs. Tesori. "A couple of friends had convinced me to do it even though I hadn't properly prepared for it."

Much to her surprise, she won the contest, which allowed her to compete in the official Miss Hawaiian Tropic Pageant in Salt Lake City. She placed first out of 24 girls, which allowed her to travel to Hawaii to compete in an even larger pageant. In Hawaii, she placed in the top 15 out of a 117 girls. This began her fitness venture.

This valuable experience allowed her to begin not only networking with other fitness enthusiasts, but also made her marketable to various companies and organizations across the United States. It also helped to expand her ideas and benefits of fitness to others.

Mrs. Tesori uses the lessons she has learned from modeling and having to stay in shape to help and motivate others. She passionately spreads her message of health and wellness to anyone who wants to listen.

"I love talking with people and motivating others; it's one of my favorite things to do," said Mrs. Tesori.

The benefits of exercise are too numerous to mention, but she names a few of the more noticeable benefits of regular exercise.

"First you really do feel better and have a stronger sense of well being," said Mrs. Tesori. "Reduced stress, appetite control, more energy and increased confidence are some other great reasons why people should take the time to exercise."

Although she realizes not everyone has time to get in full workouts regularly, she still recommends doing 'what you can, when you can'.

"There is no better way to start or end a day than with some form of exercise," said Mrs. Tesori. "Even 15 minutes helps."

Mrs. Tesori thinks this is especially true with the men and women of the Air Force with their varied and specialized missions. She highly respects the Air Forces' 'Fit to Fight' motto. This is true for the civilian personnel as well and she recommends using the allotted physical training time if possible.

In the same way most people balance their work life, social life and exercise regimens, Mrs. Tesori balances her busy schedule. She realizes that her career here at Hill AFB comes first, but she is also able to enjoy her downtime as well when she is not being a spokeswoman or cover model for her sponsors.

Equally important to Mrs. Tesori is using her talents and abilities to help her community. She plans to help the Salvation Army in the upcoming weeks, along with Meals-on-Wheels and other events that she discovers through the base paper, emails and fliers.
"Anytime I can help the people in my community, I'm on it," said Mrs. Tesori.

Mrs. Tesori encourages people to check out her website where she uploads recipes that are rated from easy-to-hard, along with workout videos and upcoming events. Visitors can also ask her specific questions or book her for an event.

People can learn more at my website, www.kathleentesori.com , and find my email address for specific questions, comments or concerns, said Mrs. Tesori.
