The 748th Supply Chain Management Group Shipping and Receiving wing accepted the Air Force Materiel Command's 2007 Supply Chain Management of the Year, Outstanding Supply Chain Management Team award during a ceremony held here Jan. 29.

"This is a phenomenal thing," remarked Col. Eric Fox, 748th SCMG commander. "This is the command-level award for the supply chain, and when you look at what they did for the community and what they get through the warehouse it is a tremendous benefit to the Air Force."

The 748th SCMG activated at Hill Air Force Base less than a year ago and they are a sister organization to the 638th SCMG at Robins AFB, Ga., and the 448th SCMW, headquartered at Tinker AFB, Okla. The role of the Air Force Global Logistics Support Center is to oversee Air Force supply chain management processes, technology and resources required to deliver end-to-end supply chain management support to the total force.

Individuals within the group were also recognized during the ceremony. Receiving the Civilian Service Award for his 30 years of civilian service was Richard Duarte, and Richard Ballard received the same award for his 40 years civilian service.

Technical Sgt. Melody Gonzalez and Senior Master Sgt. Samantha Stoney each received the Third Quarter Air Force Global Logistics Center award.
