Donating to CFC easy as a click of a button Published Oct. 15, 2009 By Lee Anne Hensley Hilltop Times staff HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- As the Combined Federal Campaign gains momentum after last week's kick-off events, the organizers of Team Hill's Intermountain CFC would like to remind would-be donors that a safe and easy donation tool is, literally, at their fingertips. The Intermountain CFC has contracted with CFC Nexus, an online pledge provider used by a number of federal agencies such as NASA, Homeland Security and other Department of Defense agencies for the last four years. The Web site, www.cfcnexus.org, offers an easy way to fill out and print pledge forms. "Online pledging not only offers convenience but eliminates problems associated with illegible forms and faulty allocations," said the chairwoman of the Team Hill CFC, Yoon Mi Hamrick Hamrick says that in addition to minimizing errors, the online pledging option could eventually reduce administrative costs of executing the campaign, as well. CFC Nexus also offers an online searchable charity catalog listing all the non-profit organizations participating in this year's Intermountain CFC. The online option also helps with record-keeping, as it assists with the math and maintains a history of your pledges for you and does not retain your social security number. After the pledges are processed, the social security numbers are not held, but wiped from the data system. Hamrick maintains that CFC Nexus is a proven provider that was reviewed by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to ensure compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations. The site has a secure, password protected system based on Web standards used in e-commerce and online applications. The security features include a 256-bit browser-to-server encryption and further encryption of sensitive information such as social security numbers. After typing in the CFC pledge using the CFC Nexus program, donors must print the pledge. If setting up a payroll deduction, donors must print and sign two copies of the pledge. If making a one-time cash or check gift, only one printed copy of the pledge is needed. Printed copies of all pledges must go to an individual's assigned CFC key worker or campaign coordinator.
