YouTube video thanks Hill Air Force personnel Published May 14, 2010 419th Public Affairs Office HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- A video on the popular video sharing site YouTube features members of the community saying thank you to Hill Air Force Base personnel. The "Thank You, Airmen" video is posted on the 419th Fighter Wing's newly created YouTube channel located at www.youtube.com/419fw. The 419th FW Public Affairs Office established the YouTube channel as part of a new social media campaign. The wing also recently launched a Facebook fan page (http://tinyurl.com/419fw-fan). "Social media sites like YouTube and Facebook give us a chance to reach out to a vast online audience," said Col. Walter "Buck" Sams, 419th FW commander. "It's important for us to share our story with the community where our reservists live and work, and social media is another way we can do that." Layton resident Zoe Waits, a volunteer with the 419th FW Public Affairs Office, produced the thank-you video in her free time, traveling to local malls, parks and universities to film participants. Waits is an experienced vlogger, or video blogger, and has also been working with 419th Public Affairs to produce a series of YouTube videos aimed at educating young people on the wing's mission and the Air Force Reserve. "I love to learn about new things, and volunteering with the 419th has given me an opportunity to see the amazing work being done by Hill's Reserve Airmen," Waits said. "It was great to put together a video for the troops to show them how much our community truly does appreciate them." So far, the wing's YouTube channel has had more than 1,200 views.
