"Now that all the commotion of construction will end (fall 2011) we can continue to make improvements and build on the already strong sense of community," said Danny Davis, Boyer Hill Military Housing property manager, as he looked at the year ahead.

"Right now, we're a little bit disjointed with construction trucks and the last of the scheduled homes being demolished," Davis said, but he added that he was excited to see the final goal in site with a destination park planned for the corner of Saratoga and Yorktown and other parks in the Liberty Heights area.

Davis said a coherent, cohesive community will be the result, with all-new and renovated homes. "Everyone's going to have a nice home that they're living in," he said.

Davis joined the BHMH two months ago and sat down with the Hilltop Times for an interview about his outlook as property manager.

His No. 1 goal is to create a community where servicemen and women want to live with their families.

In order to do that, he said, his sights are on making sure the upgrades and construction are complete, with destination parks and events that bring the community together. Davis wants to continue to build a neighborhood atmosphere where it's all about Airmen and their families.

"It's wonderful to be associated with people who have a (common) goal and that's why we want to keep the community full of people who have the same goal," he said.

One thing he'd like to assure the families who live on base is that they should continue to go up the BHMH chain of authority if property management, leasing, repairs or maintenance questions ever arise. The property management office and maintenance office would like to make sure that residences receive the kind of attention they deserve, so if there are ever questions or concerns they need to be brought to BHMH's attention right away. Getting a full picture of the problem is important. "We want our residents to have confidence that if they bring up an issue our team will give it the full attention needed," Davis said.

The Harvest Fest event just held was a success and he hopes to increase the frequency of such celebrations at the parks throughout the year.

Right now, he says particularly excited about the BHMH incentive for active duty families living off-base to move in and receive the first full month lease payment for free. "That's Christmas money," he said. Also, engaged couples living in the dorms who sign a lease with BHMH qualify for the incentive. The lease agreement must be signed by Nov. 30, but you can make the move in a couple of months after if you must wait for a current lease to expire, he explained.

Davis grew up in a farming community, with a family farm and a retail store his father owned. "So I grew up in the service community," he said. With this background he learned that you have to take care of the property, the land and the customers.

"I was fortunate to receive a full-ride scholarship to the University of Utah where I played football," Davis said.

As team captain, he learned more about leadership and served in student associations on campus. He was picked first-team all conference in both academics and athletics, but when it came time for the NFL draft, a nagging injury and the needs of his family convinced him that it didn't feel quite right and he went directly into commercial real estate.

With real estate you handle a variety of needs and properties and with the strong emphasis in his past on commercial real estate he says he feels ready to address the needs and priorities of the families in the Boyer Hill Military Housing area.

The leasing office is located at 4049B Cambridge Loop (adjacent to the back gate of the Hill Field Elementary School). For information about the leasing incentive or other questions, call (801) 874-5600 or check out the web page at www.bhmh.com.
