388th Fighter Wing greets new commander Published April 8, 2011 By Richard Essary 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 388th Fighter Wing will hold a change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 7, in Hangar 37. Col. Scott J. Zobrist will relinquish command of the 388th FW to Col. Scott C. Long. The 388th FW commander is responsible for maintaining the unit's combat readiness to deploy, employ and sustain F-16s worldwide to fight and win any conflict. The wing consists of seven squadrons that maintain and operate 48 primary assigned F-16s, as well as the 388th Range Squadron that is responsible for operations on the Utah Test and Training Range. Long comes to the 388th FW from the Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan where he served as the commander of the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group. Zobrist will leave Hill AFB to become the commander of 31st Fighter Wing, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Aviano Air Base, Italy.
