Bring a lunch and learn how to save the environment at a series of "Lunch & Learns" at the Warrior Fitness Center's Health and Wellness Center classroom.

Sponsored by the 75th Civil Engineer Group, Rocky Mountain Power and Questar Gas, these short, 30-minute presentations with environmental and energy themes, will be held April 21-May 12. They are part of activities planned for Hill AFB's 2011 Earth Day recognition. The events are free and open to all who have access to the base.

Earth Day, held annually on April 22, started more than 40 years ago as a way to raise environmental awareness. President Obama also announced last week that April will be Energy Awareness Month.

"We want people to make informed decisions about environmental and energy issues in their daily lives," said Bob Elliott, chief of the 75 CEG Environmental Management Division. "We've kept these events short and encourage everyone to bring a lunch and come learn."

In addition to the lunchtime events, the base will be recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree City USA for the 18th year in a row. A recognition ceremony for this will be held 11 a.m., May 12 at Centennial Park, with a forester from the State of Utah's Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands making a short presentation.

A special "Lunch & Learn" for kids is also planned for May 2 at the Log Cabin and the nearby pond. The entire "Lunch & Learn" schedule is below; all events run 11:30 a.m.-noon in the Warrior Fitness Center (Building 533).
