YoCCAF Fun Run 7 a.m., May 20 Published May 13, 2011 By Mary Lou Gorny Hilltop Times editor HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- A fun run is planned May 20 at 7 a.m. in front of the Warrior Fitness Center to celebrate positive results so far in the Year of the Community College of the Air Force. Master Sgt. Chi Swanson, 75th Force Support Squadron, reports she has received information from the Tuition Assistance Office that there are 189 more individuals who will receive tuition assistance in the quarter running from Feb. 1 to May 1 this year than last year during that time at Hill Air Force Base. The Education Office also reports an increase of 20 percent in walk-in traffic of those interested in completing their CCAF degree. "Before YoCCAF started, there was an average of two Brown Bag courses (classes held on base for lunch or otherwise) per quarter. Now there are up to four to five Brown Bag courses per quarter," Swanson said. Those courses can include many individuals at once pursuing the additional courses required to reach the 15 credit hours necessary to add to any enlisted service person's credentials for the associate degree. There were 131 CCAF degrees awarded at last months' CCAF graduation. Swanson said she has heard from many how much they appreciate the extra boost to their careers they have gotten through the accomplishment of their CCAF degrees. There will be a $1 registration fee for the 5K and that money will go towards the end-of-year bash to celebrate efforts toward members' obtaining their CCAF degrees. For more information about the CCAF program contact the Education Office on base.
