HAFB gates resume customary operating hours Published Aug. 12, 2011 By Richard Essary 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Officials announced this week that the base's 60-day test effectively closing the Southwest Gate and opening the East Gate will end nearly 30 days earlier than anticipated. Beginning Monday (Aug. 15) the East Gate will be closed and the Southwest Gate will be opened again from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. A test of the East Gate's usage was launched last month to help forecast traffic flow on and off the installation through the gate in the event it's considered for use in the future. Officials ended the test early, because they were able to gather all the information they needed. "We were successful in gathering the data we wanted on the existing gates and the analysis shows that the East Gate was not being used to the degree we had anticipated," said Harry Briesmaster, 75th Civil Engineer Group director.
