MyMC2: Team Hill goes mobile Published Dec. 21, 2012 By Andrea Mason 388th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- For those wanting easy access to a list of upcoming events and organizations at Hill Air Force Base, there is now a smart phone application available to provide just that. The app is called My Military Communities, or MyMC2, and it's the first mobile application in the Air Force that puts a list of every event at your base in the palm of your hand. The app has more than 15,500 users Air Force wide and is a free download available through both the Android Market and Apple's App Store -- a great way for you and your family to keep informed of the many great events happening on base. Developed by the 375th Communication Support Squadron web application development team at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., the app pulls event listings from organizational Facebook pages that are officially associated with a base and consolidates them into one place. It also lists telephone numbers for base organizations. The app opens up to a main page which lists upcoming base events. Users then have the option to narrow or expand their search by organizational or event type categories. For example, if someone is interested in finding something to do this weekend with their family, they can simply choose the "Recreation" category, which will pull the upcoming events that fit that description. They may see that outdoor recreation is hosting a family skiing day on Saturday and can then click on that event, which will give them a more detailed description, including time, location and a contact number. They can click a button and have the event automatically added to the calendar on their mobile phone, call the organization or open the organization's Facebook page or website right from the event posting. They can also touch a map icon which will open up the phone's native GPS app program for directions to the event. The app was developed for Air Force and Department of Defense-wide use. Nearly 70 bases are using IT making it convenient for when Airmen need to go TDY or PCS. In addition to event listings in the app, there are two quick-call buttons on the home page which are programmed to provide important helping numbers for Team Hill. The two hot buttons vary All official units and organizations on base are encouraged to contact the 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs' Office to link their official Facebook account to the Hill application. To download the app, users should visit their smart phone's app store and search "My Military Communities" Or "MyMC2." You can also go to the Hill AFB website and view this story online for a direct link in the last paragraph of the story.
