Sexual Assault Awareness Month begins April 1, kicking off a month-long series to increase awareness and get people involved as part of the solution to the sexual assault problem in our communities.

The first event is "Sex Signals," a nationally renowned production which explores social pressures in dating as well as how these, and other factors, can lead to sexual assault. Throughout this humorous presentation, the audience is challenged to re-evaluate their ideas of coercive behavior, seduction, and holding victims of rape responsible for their own vulnerability. There will be three sessions on April 2 at 7 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. -- attendance is mandatory for military members 24 years old and below and is highly encouraged for all other installation members. Adult children of installation members are also invited to gain basic education about sex and consent.

There are numerous base and community resources available to sexual assault victims, and the SAPR/SARC office provides direct support for civilian and military installation members as well as military dependents over the age of 18. There is a 24/7 SARC hot line, (801) 777-1985, which provides immediate assistance and resources.
