Hillcrest Dining Facility to reopen after renovations

The Hillcrest Dining Facility (DFAC) located in Bldg. 519 is set to reopen following an extensive renovation project. The DFAC will serve military personnel starting Oct. 28 and will open to civilian employees on Nov. 4.

The renovation project, which started at the end of April, included the addition of HVAC to the kitchen and conference room areas, remodeled restrooms, and updated decor throughout the facility.

"We are excited to be offering our Airmen a more contemporary DFAC. The new amenities and decor are reflective of our commitment to providing a comfortable and inviting environment for the base’s military and civilian employees," said Moses Thompson, 75th FSS sustainment flight chief. "We appreciate everyone’s patience throughout the renovations and are happy to begin serving the base at large with another dining option."

The new heritage room features historical Air Force images on the walls, while the Utah room showcases picturesque images from around the state. The facility also has new carpeting and decor in the seating areas, updated lighting, and a conference room with new sound and video equipment, along with updated seating.

The Hillcrest DFAC first opened in 1960 and has undergone several renovation projects since that time. Prior to this most recent project, renovations to the DFAC occurred in 2021 and included upgrades to lighting and electrical systems, and updates to the kitchen areas.

The DFAC will return to normal meal services for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Special events include Mongolian night, taco Tuesday, chicken wing Wednesday, and specialty sandwiches (e.g., Reuben, meatball, Philly steak) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hillcrest hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 8 a.m. for breakfast, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch, from 5 to 7 p.m. for dinner, and from 10:30 p.m. to midnight for midnight meals. It is open weekends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for breakfast, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch, and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for dinner, unless otherwise posted.
