AFAF campaign at Hill AFB kicks off March 6

Hello Team Hill,

I’m Chaplain (Capt.) Jeff Skipper, this year’s Installation Project Officer for the Air Force Assistance Fund Campaign.

I know we just saw the Combined Federal Campaign come to an end in the middle of January. As we’re seeing the future grow more and more uncertain with looming interest rate hikes and supply chain problems causing more inflation, I’d like to just point out, that unlike the CFC that supports more than 8,000 nonprofits, the AFAF Campaign that starts today (March 6) at Hill Air Force Base supports only four charities.

These are the four official charities of the Department of the Air Force because they are “For Airmen and Guardians, By Airmen and Guardians.” That’s our motto and it’s a fact. If it weren’t for our predecessors in the Air and Space Force going back to 1942 — taking care of our own — these charities would not be here.

The AFAF Charities assist Airmen, Guardians, and their family members with emergency assistance, educational scholarships, base and community programs, in-home care for surviving spouses of our retirees, and providing a home to those surviving spouses who otherwise could not afford housing.

These are important lanes of assistance for our Department of the Air Force family. It’s important that me and my team to tell you all about them in the coming weeks and we’ll ask you to consider joining us in giving today, since all of us are liable to be making the call for assistance tomorrow. Let’s pay it forward and support the four charities that will be there for us and for our families, throughout our careers and beyond.

Please visit our base AFAF Campaign page today at 2023 AFAF Campaign and find your squadron there. Join us — not just in donating, but go ahead and click the “Register to Fundraise” button on the base page or the “Join My Team” button on your squadron page to register and get your own fundraising page linked to your squadron and our base. You can also invite your friends and family to help us meet our squadron, base and Air Force goals this year.

Thank you in advance, from the four charities we support, and for the tens of thousands of Airmen and Guardians being assisted by the charities every single year.
