HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Hill Air Force Base is hosting a question-and-answer event for high school girls to learn from women who are working in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
The event is sponsored by Hill’s STEM and Women in Science and Engineering, or WiSE, programs. It will take place March 30 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the UStAR Building outside the base’s West Gate.
“WiSE is excited to have this first of what we hope is an annual event,” said Alison Sturgeon, the STEM program manager. “The event is designed to allow girls an opportunity to see and meet women who work in STEM fields and to help them see themselves in a STEM career someday. Hearing directly from a variety of STEM professionals about specific programs is a great way to inspire girls to pursue a STEM career.”
Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to ask questions to several Hill professionals, as well as learn about the interesting and dynamic technology Hill employees work with.
Women invited to field questions and demonstrate technology include electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineers, computer scientists and physicists from the Software Engineering Group and other organizations on base.
Deadline to register for the event is March 25. To register, text Alison Sturgeon at 801-336-7762.
