Utah legislature honors Hill AFB families

SALT LAKE CITY -- Last week, the Utah Senate and House of Representatives hosted military and civilian families from Hill Air Force Base on their respective floors.

Col. Jenise Carroll, 75th Air Base Wing commander, opened the Feb. 24 session by leading the legislature in the pledge of allegiance.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives presented an official citation to the families honoring them for their sacrifices and for making Utah a better community.

The citation reads:

Be it herby made know to all by the Utah Legislature:

WHEREAS, the Utah Legislature honors all Airmen, Guardians, DoD civilians, and their families assigned to Hill Air Force Base.

WHEREAS, military families selflessly sacrifice to support their loved ones’ as they defend our liberties at home and abroad. Utah is a stronger, safer and more vibrant state because of their service.

WHEREAS, military families demonstrate resilience in adapting to everchanging circumstances, including long separations from loved ones and frequent changes of residences, schools and cultures as they follow their loved ones around the globe.

WHEREAS, military families nobly contribute their diverse perspectives in various education, volunteer, religious and community settings, while building and strengthening long-lasting community connections. Our military families make Utah an even better state to live and work in.

THEREFORE, we encourage all Utahns to join the Legislature in expressing gratitude to the incredible Airmen, Guardians and their families assigned to Hill Air Force Base. May we all continue to welcome them with open arms to the great state of Utah.
