LAYTON, Utah -- The Farmers Feeding Families organization donated food to Utah military families at an event held at the Weber State University Davis Campus in Layton Feb. 14. The event was the first of two the organization planned to donate directly to military families.
“We are so grateful to all those involved in making the military “Share the Love” event a success. Through their gracious assistance, Airmen could focus on quality time with their families and didn’t have to worry about where their next few meals would come from,” said Master Sgt. Amber Costello, Airman and Family Readiness NCO. “This is just one example of how our incredible surrounding community comes together to support our military families.”
More than 400 families received food with the help of volunteers from Hill Air Force Base, Weber State University and the Utah Farm Bureau. Locally-sourced food donations included beef, pork, milk, eggs, cheese, apples, and other produce.
The second event was scheduled at Camp Williams on Feb. 22. Farmers Feeding Families has donated approximately 1.6 million pounds of food to more than 40,000 Utah residents since it began in 2020.
