An Air Force Materiel Command senior financial advisor was one of four AFMC senior leaders recently recognized with the Presidential Rank Award for exceptional performance, 2018.

Don Kendrick serves as the AFMC commander’s primary senior advisor on everything pertaining to financial and business initiatives across the command.

The Presidential Rank Award acknowledges that Kendrick’s competence in his financial area of expertise is respected by peers, subordinates and other leaders in the Air Force and the Department of Defense.

“Elite competitors make me aware of the level of honor the award carries and the impact each Airmen at every level is empowered to make on the Air Force mission,” said Kendrick.

Since becoming AFMC senior financial advisor in 2018, Kendrick significantly improved AFMC business processes, driving major changes in Air Force business enterprise acquisition processes. As a result of this work, the acquisition community began to consider the full business enterprise when looking at materiel solution options.

Kendrick also advanced Air Force data integration efforts by advocating a modern business enterprise information technology architecture vision, developing a draft strategy and improving Air Force data integrity.

The Presidential Rank Awards program was established by the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 to recognize members of the Senior Executive Service for exceptional performance over an extended period of time. Later, the Rank Award statute was amended to extend eligibility to senior career employees.

The award recognizes extraordinary achievements by career executives in Federal service. They focus on the top individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to their agency and the federal government.

The other Meritorious Senior Professional recipients from AFMC are Dr. Michael Eismann and Dr. Daniel Miracle, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Paterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

The Meritorious Executive Recipient honoree for AFMC is Joseph Oder, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.

Honorees will be recognized during the annual Presidential Rank Awards Ceremony at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia in summer 2019.
