The Thunderbirds arrived June 21 at Hill Air Force Base for the Warriors Over the Wasatch Air and Space show happening this weekend June 23-24.

“We’re excited to be here, with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains to perform with,” said Capt. Will Graeff, left wing pilot for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, flying the No. 2 jet.

“Everyone is going to see a lot of awesome acts, not just us Thunderbirds.”

Hill’s Air and Space show takes place every other year. It is one of the largest shows in the country, and the largest single event in Utah with regular attendees traveling from surrounding states and Canada.

The show will feature the United States Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team, along with an 388th Fighter Wing F-35A Lightning II attack demonstration with live pyrotechnics, the U.S. Special Operations Command Para-Commandos parachute team, and a number of other military and civilian aerial demonstrations.

In addition to the flying demonstrations, there will be displays of modern and historic military aircraft and equipment, and attendees will be able to talk and interact with America’s proud Airmen.

For the first time, this show will dedicate an entire hangar to STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education. Some of the largest aerospace companies in the world will have displays as well as interactive activities.

The admission to the air show is free and there are also VIP tickets available to purchase via a partnership with The Utah Air Show Foundation that will allow attendees higher levels of accommodations-including private seating, food and beverage options.

Gates will open at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday with the performances beginning at 9:30 a.m. The gates will close at 5 p.m.

Due to expected traffic and limited event parking, organizers are encouraging using UTA as the best way to get to and from the show.

Air Show attendees will travel to the Clearfield FrontRunner station and then catch a bus straight to the air show entrance.

A special $5 round-trip fare will be the cost for a single rider; and a $15 UTA group pass (up to four people) is also available for purchase on the UTA website, the GoRide mobile app, vending machines or UTA customer service centers. Both fares allow for travel on FrontRunner, TRAX, Streetcar and local bus.
